Following a stellar season on the track and in the classroom, University of Louisville track and field’s Holly Knight has been named a Capital One Academic All-American, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.

Knight, who is working toward her doctorate in psychology, owns a 3.93 grade-point average through her first year of coursework, while earning Dean's List accolades in the fall and spring semesters. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology at Auburn, where she finished with a 3.96 GPA.

The women’s program’s fifth academic All-American, Knight has achieved just as much success on the track. In addition to garnering honorable mention All-America honors in the 10,000m in early June, she has broken three school records: the indoor 5,000m mark and the outdoor 5,000m and 10,000m marks. At the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, she helped the women’s program capture its fifth-straight league title – a BIG EAST Conference women’s team record – by racing to a pair of third-place finishes in the 5,000m and 10,000m races.

On May 31, Knight was selected to CoSIDA’s Capital One Academic All-District Track and Field Team.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution and be nominated by their sports information director.
