LOUISVILLE, Ky. (News Release) – The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team reached another program milestone thanks in large part to its undefeated start and upset over a top-15 ranked program.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Cardinals were tabbed No. 20 in the first weekly Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association Poll, marking the first time Louisville has received a top-20 ranking in the poll.

Louisville (3-0) opened the year with a 13-3 victory over Canisius, upset then-No. 13 Ohio State 12-11, and then scored a 21-3 decision over Old Dominion on Saturday. The victory over the Buckeyes was Louisville’s fourth win over a ranked program in school history and tied for the highest upset in the program’s six-year existence (No. 13 Vanderbilt; March 30, 2011).

The Cardinals, in the first NCAA statistical rankings, are No. 8 in scoring margin (+9.67), No. 10 in scoring defense, holding opponents to 5.67 goals per game, and caused turnovers per game (12), and No. 12 in scoring offense (15.33 goals/game).

The Cardinals return to competition on Saturday, March 2, with a noon ET matchup at Denver.
