TAMPA, Fla. (NEWS RELEASE) -- A late penalty kick goal from junior Angelika Uremovich was enough to help the Louisville women’s soccer team overcome an early deficit and earn a 1-1 draw at USF on Sunday afternoon at Corbett Stadium.

With the tie, the Cardinals moved to 2-2-2 in BIG EAST Conference matches and 7-3-2 overall, while the Bulls moved to 2-1-2 in league action and 6-4-2 overall.

The host Bulls opened the scoring early in Sunday’s match when Sharla Passariello connected for her sixth goal of the season during the ninth minute of action for the 1-0 lead. The goal was setup by a pass from Olivia Chance, who was credited with her second assist of the season.

USF took that advantage into the halftime break and held it through much of the second half before Louisville pulled even in the 84th minute after Uremovich (Oakville, Ont./St. Ignatius of Loyola) connected on a penalty kick. The goal was the team-leading ninth of the season for Uremovich and the 18th of her career.

The teams remained tied for the completion of regulation and for the two 10-minute overtime periods in closing out the first draw ever between the two programs. In goal for Louisville, senior Chloe Kiefer (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Divine Saviour HS) had four saves, while Christiane Endler had eight stops for USF.

Overall, Louisville had a 16-12 advantage in shots, including a 9-5 edge in shots on-goal. Corner kicks were even at 6-6.

Up next, Louisville returns home to host a pair of BIG EAST Conference matchups next weekend at Cardinal Park against Villanova (Friday, 7 p.m., ET) and Georgetown (Sunday, 1 p.m.).
