LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- UofL Guard Kevin Ware is back in Louisville and he's preparing to speak to the public for the first time on Wednesday afternoon, April 3, at a news conference.
But despite the severe injury, his words of encouragement for his friends helped them continue fighting to make it to the Final Four.
On Tuesday, those same friends welcomed Ware and his family back to Louisville.

Walking into the Yum practice center for the first time after suffering a season-ending injury Kevin Ware told reporters how he was feeling.
Just behind him his teammates were holding the trophy the Cards brought home.
The injured player's mom also expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of goodwill shown for her son.
“Thank you for all the support,” Lisa Junior said.
One fan had this to say.
“I think it's really awesome, I'm happy he's going to be back,” Kayleigh Polston, a fan, said.
For the last 48 hours fans have relied on tweeted pictures to get glimpses of Ware's recovery.

But on Tuesday, April 2, a few loyal fans waited outside of the practice center for the chance to wish the sophomore well in person. Some with homemade gifts and others with pen in hand.
All of them hoping for a Final Four victory or better yet, a win for Ware.
Right now Ware is planning to travel with the Cards to Atlanta. At Wednesday's news conference Pitino will also give a preview of the Final Four matchup.
