Two-time Olympic medalist and USA Softball team member Jennie Finch will be the keynote speaker at the 2010 University of Louisville Softball Bullpen Club Dinner which will take place on January 30 at the Galt House at 7:30 p.m.

“We are very excited to have Jennie Finch speak at our Bullpen Club Dinner,” said U of L head coach Sandy Pearsall. “She has been one of softball’s top pitchers on the collegiate, international and professional level and has been a great representative for our sport.”

About Jennie Finch
Jennie Finch has been a national team member since 2001 and was been instrumental USA Softball’s tremendous success, earning two Olympic medals, two Pan American Games Championships and three World Cup Championships. Finch made her mark as a pitcher, helping Team USA to a gold medal in the 2004 Athens Olympics with a 2-0 record and a 0-0 ERA.


While playing at the University of Arizona (1999-02), Finch helped the Wildcats win a national title in 2001 and was a three-time All-American, and two-time Honda Award winner as the nation’s top collegiate pitcher. The two-time Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year still holds the NCAA record for consecutive wins with 60. 

In 2002, she was one for Best Female College Athlete ESPY Award and went continued to become one of the most recognized names in the sport of softball. She currently plays for the National Pro Fastpitch League’s Chicago Bandits and was named the 2005 NPF Co-Pitcher of the Year.  Additionally, Finch has made numerous television appearances, including hosting a segment on This Week in Baseball from 2004-05, a stint on Pros vs. Joes and she was also contestant on Celebrity Apprentice in 2008.

The University of Louisville Softball Team The University of Louisville softball team is coming off of its sixth-consecutive NCAA regional appearance and a record-setting season in 2009, finishing at 48-11, setting a new mark for wins and tying the record for fewest losses. The Cards were a mainstay in the top 25 rankings, reaching a program-high of 14th in both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and USA Softball polls. U of L closed the season at No. 24 in the NFCA poll.

Eleven letterwinners and seven starters are back from last year's team including All-Americans Melissa Roth and Kristen Wadwell. The Cards also welcome eight newcomers to the 2010 team.  U of L will open the 2010 season at the Marriott Tournament in Houston Feb. 12-14.
