LOUISVILLE, Ky. (NEWS RELEASE) -- University of Louisville tennis players Rebecca Shine and Julia Fellerhoff have made the ITA ranking as singles players. Fellerhoff is #120 and Shine is #124.
"I am extremely proud to announce that Becca Shine and Julia Fellerhoff are in the pre-season national rankings. This is actually the first time that two women have been ranked nationally at the same time in school history. This is just something else to add to the resume of Julia and Becca as the two best individual players to play at the University of Louisville," said U of L coach Mark Beckham.
Their rankings make them eligible to play in the prestigious ITA All-American Tournament at UCLA beginning Sept. 29. They will also compete as a team in the doubles flight.
"I have to keep reminding myself that they are only just starting the second half of their careers here at U of L with them being juniors now, so what they have accomplished in just two years is remarkable," said Beckham. "With them being ranked, that has also gained them entry into the All-American Championships. Last year they were the first two players in U of L tennis history to qualify for the All-American Championships and now they are just padding their stats. This is a great way for Women's Tennis to start off the year with these two individuals representing the program in one of the three biggest college events of the year. They are great representatives for U of L athletics!"
