Poll:
Do you think Charlie Strong is a good choice for U of L's coach?

It'll be a whirlwind of a day Wednesday for Charlie Strong.

WHAS11’s Joe Arnold hit the streets Tuesday night after nailing down his hiring to get reaction from fans for both UofL and UK.

“I'm very excited. As a former Gator fan and a UofL fan now absolutely.  I'm thrilled,” said Carol Schroerlucke.

Thrilled excited fans at the Cardinal Hall of Fame and Cafe are ready to welcome the Gators' Charlie Strong with open arms.

“I mean can you get a better team from the University of Florida?  I'm also impressed with the fact that he's a minority and that U of L is willing to hire a minority coach,” said Cindy Barney.

And Cards fans are relieved after only 15 wins versus 21 losses in three seasons under Coach Steve Kragthorpe.

“It’s been tough,” said Larry Thompson. “I'm hopeful things are going to turn around and get better.  And I believe that with Charlie Strong coming it's going to do that.”

Sarah Livesay said, “hopefully with this new coach, more people will come out, more people will get excited.  The stands will actually be packed.”

Wildcats fan Sally Tracy said, “I think it will be a much more competitive game. I'm real pleased with Coach Brooks, but I think it's time for UofL to get somebody really good in there and I think Tom Jurich is doing a great job.”

Robert Meihaus, son of the legendary St. X coach, said Strong is, “a players' coach.  Players respond to him.  And a lot of people don't think about this, but he's got in the in on recruiting in the state of Florida which I think is just a fantastic thing for the University of Louisville.”

“I lived in Florida and the Virgin Islands, so I watched a lot of Florida football, so I know who he is and I think it's wonderful,” said Jane Ryan.
