The sophomore and BIG EAST Swimmer of the Year posted the third fastest time in the meet’s history, trailing only Simon Burnett (1:31.20) and Ricky Berens (1:31.31). After qualifying seventh, De Lucca won from an outside lane going out fast early in the race and then pulling away to win by almost a full second. Berens was on hand to present the medals to the swimmers on the podium.
In 2012, he finished third in the 200-free with a time of 1:33.49.
