(WHAS) -- University of Louisville junior Joao De Lucca continues to make waves at the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships. The championships are being held Nov. 29 - Dec. 1 at the University of Texas-Austin.
After qualifying fourth in the 100-freestyle, he moved up to second in the finals, shaving a full second off his prelim time to post a 42.05, being out-touched by Matt Grevers, who touched in 41.71. De Lucca’s second split of 21.75 was faster than Grevers final split of 21.98.
“He was hard-charging down the stretch,” said U of L head coach Arthur Albiero.
