(WHAS11) -- There's a new number one in college basketball according to Forbes Magazine, and no, it isn’t the Kentucky Wildcats.
Forbes says the University of Louisville has surpassed North Carolina to become the NCAA’s most valuable basketball team with a total value of $36.1 million.
Ticket sales of $1.4 million, an additional million dollars in sales from concessions, parking and programs at the downtown arena have contributed to the total, but the major factor behind Louisville’s financial success - contributions to the basketball team, which hit $20 million last year.
All of those factors combined pushed the Cards to the number one spot.
