LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville area police are getting ready to keep everyone safe this Final Four weekend.

On Thursday, they revealed their traffic plans, but they aren't the only one's gearing up for the next couple of days.

At 12th and Broadway a new T-shirt stand can't keep UofL merchandise in stock.

“It is going to be jammed packed Monday night and Saturday and Sunday we should have cars lined up on Broadway trying to get in,” Clay Simpson, T-shirt retailer, said.

The guys running this tent know big business is heading their way. They've already ordered more shirts and championship shirts for Monday night.

And a few blocks down the street at Dino's Chicken, the store manager is eagerly awaiting the arrival of this weekend. They expect big crowds to be out in West Louisville for what's turning into a hoops holiday.

“You know being that the Derby had stopped the cruising and everything it was kind of slow for businesses up along Broadway. So we are hoping that everything goes well the customers, the people, the excitement and the game and all. So we just hope everything goes well,” Ms. Lynn, with Dino’s Chicken, said.

Broadway, the Highlands, 4th Street and the UofL campus are all areas where police will be keeping a close eye on. They are expecting big crowds - people cruising, walking but not setting couches on fire.

“Cards nation is much different than Cat nation and I really don’t expect that to happen here in Louisville,” David James, UofL Police, said.

“We are going to restrict parking on Broadway from 21st to 31st Street on Saturday night and Monday obviously, if necessary,” Major Kelly Jones, with LMPD special operations, said.

There will be 200 officers out working the celebration details around the city. In the Highlands there are no parking restrictions but there could be if problems pop up.

And Cardinal Boulevard, in front of Cardinal Town, between Third and Fourth will be closed for students to celebrate.

Also a note to students if the men advance to championship game night classes will be canceled on Monday. If the women make it to championship game night classes will be canceled on Tuesday.
