LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A federal grand jury in Louisville has brought a new charge against the woman accused of trying to extort money from Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino.

The grand jury Wednesday charged Karen Cunagin Sypher with retaliating against the coach by filing a criminal complaint against Pitino after she was indicted in May.

In the earlier case, Pitino said he reported the alleged extortion attempt to the FBI.

Sypher has pleaded not guilty to charges of extortion and lying to the FBI.

The coach subsequently told police that he had a consensual sexual encounter with Sypher in 2003.

This whole episode is a disgusting case and pretty much all of it is truly ridiculous and all because people can't practice some personal restraint
