LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- 2014 recruit Trey Lyles tweeted out Monday night he trimmed his list down to two schools; Louisville and Kentucky. Which means the Cards and Cats will once again go head to head for an elite recruit.

Lyles is the seventh ranked player in the country in the class according to Scout.com. He’s a 6’9” power forward who makes everybody around him better. The kid is worth the hype and the attention.

This isn’t the first time in recent years these two schools have battled it out for a recruit.  The biggest decision in recent memory was Marquis Teague.  Many people believed at one point Rick Pitino had Teague all but locked up to be a Cardinal. On the day he announced Teague was wearing a red shirt, but when the moment of truth came he put on a blue hat and chose John Calipari and the Cats. Teague would help UK to their eighth national championship and went on to be a first round pick in the NBA Draft. There was also Montrezl Harrell last year who obviously chose the Cards and helped them to their third national championship.  His decision didn’t come down to the two, but at one point Harrell was being recruiting by Kentucky.

This next battle will obviously be another in the Calipari vs. Pitino novel, but let’s keep it between the coaches and between the lines. Often times you see a recruit choose a school and the fan base who got left out spits venom at the young man using social media as their mouth piece. I call it courage without repercussion. I’m not saying the fan bases shouldn’t talk smack. Talk it. It’s what the rivalry is all about. Just do it to each other.

Remember who’s making this decision, it’s Trey Lyles, and he’s just a kid.

Let the games begin.
