BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Clay McKee hit Daniel Scott for a six-yard touchdown pass with 40 seconds left as Scott County earned a 21-14 win over Meade County in the KHSAA Class 6A championship game Saturday at Houchens Industries L.T. Smith Stadium.
McKee threw two touchdowns on 7-of-9 attempts for just 71 yards for Scott County (15-0). Scott hauled in both scores from McKee and finished with six catches for 53 yards.
Keith Guy rushed 10 times for 90 yards and Kevin Claussen rushed for 86 yards and a one-yard score for the Cardinals who combined for 218 rushing yards on offense.
Meade County (12-3) quarterback John Wilson tied the game up at 14 with 4:34 remaining in the game with an eight-yard keeper and a successful two-point conversion. Wilson finished with two scores on 49 yards rushing.
Scott County's Tyler Carpenter intercepted Wilson's pass at midfield on the final drive to secure the Cardinals' first state championship since 1975.
