LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky junior defensive tackle Donte Rumph has been named Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in the Wildcats' 34-3 victory over Samford.

Rumph had five tackles (four solo) with a second-quarter sack and forced fumble that Tristian Johnson returned 25 yards for a touchdown.

The Wildcats limited Samford to 102 total yards and minus-2 rushing, the first time since 1996 they have held an opponent to negative rushing yards. Kentucky (2-9, 0-7 SEC) also recorded five sacks of Samford quarterbacks.

Rumph has 34 tackles including five for loss, four sacks and a forced fumble this season. His best game was against South Carolina, when he tied a career high with six tackles including a sack.

The Wildcats close the season Saturday at Tennessee (4-7, 0-7).
