LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Since April, a task force looking at the future of Rupp Arena has been working behind the scenes.
The 50-member group has had meetings with University of Kentucky Athletics and representatives of surrounding neighborhoods.
But the process will soon become more public.
Task force committees are writing draft reports that will be released Sept. 7, and several open meetings will be scheduled in the fall, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
The key question for the task force is whether Rupp Arena should be renovated and expanded or replaced. Task force chairman Brent Rice says the discussions with neighborhood representatives have focused on two questions — what they want to see there and what they don't want to see there.
Rupp Arena is home to the UK men's basketball team.
