UofL students excited for ESPN 'College GameDay'

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- For the first time in the school's history, a University of Louisville Football game will be featured on ESPN's College GameDay. The preview show will feature UofL's match-up versus Florida State this Saturday. The GameDay show is the talk of UofL's campus.

"I've already had people texting me asking what time we are going to go to GameDay and all this other stuff so we will definitely be out there,"  Logan Frederick, a sophomore, said.

"Everybody has been talking about GameDay, everyone is so excited to come, so I definitely think there will be a great turnout there. I know everybody is really looking forward to it," said Junior Morgan Fritz, "I think its a really great opportunity for the school. I think that we've never  had them before so I think it will be awesome for school spirit just to have everybody come out."

In the AP Top 25 Poll, the University of Louisville Cardinals are now ranked #10 and the Florida State Seminoles are ranked #2.

"It should be a great exposure for the city, and great exposure for our university. We haven't had a good track here in the past with all the bad news so it should be a great spotlight for our city and our football team and our university,"  Frederick said.

The students' excitement is not just for the national spotlight, but also for how their team is looking this year.

"I think it speaks a lot about what the program. Where its headed and honestly where it's at, at this moment. Should be a heck of a game, really looking forward to the competition and the atmosphere,"  Cory Hoffman, a senior, said.

Some students are already starting to plan out the signs they will bring to the show.

Another student said the following.

"Debating about it, if I can come up with something creative enough, definitely," said Hoffman.

ESPN College GameDay airs from 9 to noon on Saturday. The location of the set has not yet been announced.
