LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – U of L’s Lamar Jackson is now getting the third best odds to win the Heisman Trophy by Bovada at 6-1.
He was also awarded the Davey O’Brien quarterback of the week honor.
Above it all, Coach Bobby Petrino has been pleased with the sophomore signal caller after the first few weeks and that’s not easy to do.
Jackson has a natural running ability but Coach Petrino has been really happy with how much he’s grown in the passing game, working on footwork and timing with the receivers.
“I’m very proud at how hard he’s worked on that and how it is important to him, he’s very driven and he’s a very committed young man – he’s fun to coach because he’s coachable. He likes getting better and he’s a great competitor.
One would have to wonder what Florida State thinks after watching the film of Jackson for the first couple of weeks.
Head coach Jimbo Fisher has a very healthy respect for Jackson and the challenges he’ll post to the Seminoles’ defense.
U of L and Florida State go head-to-head Sep. 17 at noon.
