Pitino confident in no additional sanctions

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) –  University of Louisville men’s basketball Coach Rick Pitino says he’s confident the NCAA will not impose any new sanctions for an alleged sex scandal involving the team.

Pitino made the comments during the College Hoops Today podcast.

The university self-imposed a postseason ban and recruiting penalties while also eliminating two scholarships.

“It was pretty severe for us and do I expect any more? I don’t make those decisions but we followed what Chuck Smrt who used to work for the NCAA in a leadership position told us the violations would incur. So we feel very confident that’ll be it,” Pitino said.

The NCAA has not released their investigation into the claims from Katina Powell, a self-described madam.

Powell alleges former basketball staffer Andre McGee paid her to provide strip shows and sex for players and recruits.

The NCAA investigation is expected to wrap up soon.
