LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – U of L quarterback Lamar Jackson has had a great week which includes being named one of four Cardinals named ACC Player of the Week and the Davey O’Brien quarterback of the week for two weeks straight. It’s pretty funny for a guy who gave his own performance a “D”.
During Monday’s press conference, Coach Bobby Petrino laughed the grade off saying he wouldn’t want Jackson as a teacher.
Petrino obviously thought the performance was much better than a “D”, adding he believes Jackson is being a little too hard on himself but may have been joking a little bit.
He did say the sophomore quarterback still has room to improve.
“He’s upset he missed two throws in the first quarter. One would have been a touchdown and the other would have been a third-down conversion. The timing was just off a little bit. The first one he probably didn’t close his shoulder as much as he needs to, so the ball was a little out in front of Traveon (Traveon Samael) and then the third down conversion to Reggie (Reggie Bonnafon). I think he thought Reggie was going to come out of his break a little bit quicker at a different angle and were just not on.
The Cards will face Marshall at 8 p.m. on Sep. 24.
