SPARTA, Ky. (WHAS11)- Governor Steve Beshear could not hold back his pride for the new inaugural NASCAR event for Kentucky. He officially proclaimed this week “NASCAR Week.”
Fans are heading out to watch the Feed the Children 300 starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday. On Saturday night, 150,000 people are expected to descend on the Kentucky Motor Speedway for the Quaker 400. While the event is sold out, you can buy standing room passes for the infield.
The track's owner Bruton Smith said the impact of this event is enormous for the state, and he expects this race to rival the Kentucky Derby.
