LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After a tournament win last weekend in Lexington, 12th-ranked Louisville returns home looking for another tournament title as they host the Courtyard by Marriott Louisville Airport Cardinal Classic.

The unbeaten Cardinals will open the event on Friday at 7:30 p.m., ET against rival Kentucky, while Toledo will take on Samford in the first match of the day at 5 p.m. On Sunday, Samford and Kentucky will begin the day’s doubleheader at noon before Louisville returns to action against Toledo at 2:30 p.m.

Friday’s Louisville-Kentucky matchup will be televised statewide by WHAS-TV 11.2 (Insight channel 432 and Comcast channel 207). Live video of Sunday’s Louisville-Toledo game will be streamed live for subscribers of CardsTV on UofLsports.com. Live scoring will be available through the Gametracker link on the women’s soccer schedule page at UofLsports.com.

In its last outing, Louisville (4-0-0) pushed its season-opening winning streak to four with a 3-0 victory over UNC-Greensboro to clinch the UK Tropical Smoothie Invitational title last Sunday in Lexington. Three different Cardinals found the scoring column led by Erin Yenney, who also added an assist in the winning effort. She was joined by Irene Young and Angelika Uremovich, who each had goals in the win. Goalkeeper Chloe Kiefer needed just one save to clinch her third shutout of the season and the 13th of her career.

Kentucky enters Friday’s match at 4-0-0 overall following a pair of home wins last weekend against UNCG and Southeast Missouri. Toledo enters the weekend at 2-3-0 overall after a home win last weekend against Loyola (Ill.). Samford is 1-3-0 overall following its win over UAB last Sunday afternoon.

Friday’s match will be the 16th all-time between the Cardinals and Wildcats with UK holding a 9-5-1 advantage in the series. Last season, Kentucky earned a 2-0 win in Lexington on Sept. 9, 2011. Sunday’s game will be just the third between Louisville and Toledo with the Cards holding a 1-0-1 edge. In the last meeting, the teams played to a 1-1 draw on Aug. 26, 2011 in Toledo.

WEEKEND PROMOTIONS
Friday’s match against rival Kentucky will be a “Red Out” at Cardinal Park. Fans are encouraged to wear red in support of Louisville in the annual showdown.

For Sunday’s match, fans can bring their ticket stubs from Saturday’s football home game against Missouri State to receive free admission at Cardinal Park.

LOUISVILLE RISES TO 12TH IN SOCCER AMERICA TOP 25
Following last week’s pair of wins over SEMO and UNCG to win the UK Invitational, the Cardinals moved up two spots to No. 12 in this week’s Soccer America Top 25 poll. Louisville, which debuted at No. 22 in the preseason poll, is one of three BIG EAST Conference teams in this week’s poll joining Marquette (No. 8) and Georgetown (No. 19). The Cardinals also entered the NSCAA/Continental Tire Top 25 for the first time this week at No. 25. Three other BIG EAST teams - Marquette (No. 12), Rutgers (No. 21) and Georgetown (No. 23) - join the Cards in the coaches’ poll.

CARDINALS ENTER SHOWDOWN WITH UK UNBEATEN FOR THE FORUTH TIME
Louisville enters Friday’s matchup with rival Kentucky unbeaten for the fourth time in series history. The Cardinals are 2-1 in the previous three matchups when entering unbeaten, including a 2-0 home win in 2010 the last time it happened. In 2009, both squads entered with a 1-0-0 record before UK earned a 1-0 win in Lexington. In 2006, Louisville entered the match with a 2-0-1 record before taking a 2-1 double overtime victory on the road.

YENNEY NAMED BIG EAST OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK ON SEPT. 3
Sophomore Erin Yenney was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 3 following her performances the previous weekend. Yenney totaled five points, including two game-winning goals in a 2-0-0 week for the Cardinals. She scored the first goal in a 4-0 victory over Southeast Missouri State on Aug. 31 before connecting for a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over UNC-Greensboro on Sept. 2. Yenney was named to the All-Tournament team at the UK Tropical Smoothie Invitational after helping lead the Cardinals to the tournament title.

LOOKING AHEAD
Following this weekend’s matches, the Cardinals will take to the road for their BIG EAST Conference opener at Notre Dame on Sept. 14 at 4 p.m., ET in a nationally televised match on ESPNU. Louisville will close the weekend at DePaul on Sept. 16 at 2 p.m., ET.
