(WHAS11) - Several of the players in Sunday's Super Bowl have ties to Kentuckiana. The most notable one, Patriots' wide receiver and former U of L star Deion Branch. Sunday, Branch's teammate Brandon Deaderick got to play in his first Super Bowl about three hours from his hometown of Elizabethtown in Indianapolis.

WHAS11 watched with Deaderick's family as he tried to add Super Bowl Champion to his resume.

It did not take long for Deaderick to make his presence known in Super Bowl 46. Ask his family gathered in Indianapolis to watch the game and they will tell you he is known for his success on the football field. They said it is his relentless work ethic that is the key to what makes him great.

"He always worked hard. He always had a football in his hand. We always played pop Warner football together. It's a dream come true. I always knew he was going to be something because he always stuck to it," said his cousin, Isiah Minter.

No matter the outcome his family says he has made them proud.

"He's making history for our family being the first from our family to make it into pro sports and of course the Super Bowl," said his uncle, Aubrey Williams.

They hope this is his first of many Super Bowls to come.
