LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The first day of August 2013 marks a historic moment for Louisville fans.
In the "USA Today" Preseason Rankings, the University of Louisville broke the Top 10 for the first time ever.
The Cards landed at number nine.
This ranking is mainly thanks to the spanking they handed Florida in last year’s Sugar Bowl.
The Gators came in at number 10 in this season’s rankings . . . which means Louisville beat them by one spot.
Number one went to Alabama after they won last year’s national championship.
As for Kentucky, they didn’t make the list, but they will play five teams in the top 10.
UofL, on the other hand, will not play a single team this season that is ranked in the top 10.
