LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The bombing in Boston is fresh in the minds of many across the country. Two bombs that were detonated killed three people and injured more than 100.
More than 500,000 people are expected to attend Thunder Over Louisville and safety is always a concern. Derby Festival officials have been keeping in contact with Homeland Security.
Festival officials assure that the events leading up to the Kentucky Derby will be safe for the public.
The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security says they are closely monitoring the situation in Boston, but intelligence reports are in a preliminary stage. Officials with the office say there is no imminent threat to Thunder Over Louisville or scheduled festival events.
