(WHAS11) - The Kentucky Derby second place finisher Eight Belles has been interred at the Kentucky Derby Museum, and a public memorial is now planned.
The filly was laid to rest yesterday outside the derby museum with a gem Magnolia tree that was donated in her honor.
Eight Belles finished second in the derby...but suffered from two broken ankles and had to be euthanized on the race track.
The Kentucky Derby Museum has received an outpouring of support since her death.
