Louisville, Ky.  (NEWS RELEASE)  – Before a crowd of 3,500, Curtain Call Photo booth pulled off another win in the Champion division of the Kentucky Derby Festival Great Bed Races.  This was the 24th year for the event, held at Broadbent Arena. Curtain Call’s time was 25.7 seconds and they participated in the 11th of 20 heats held during the competition.  In second place, Rubbies Southside Grill held a time of 26.88 seconds and UAW/Ford Assembly Plant was in third place with a time of 27.7 seconds.  The theme of this year’s event, “Now That’s Entertainment,” had people decorating their beds in a variety of styles depicting everything from musical groups to movies and sports.

In the Fun division of the competition, first place went to Apple Valley Gang with a time of 25.8 seconds.  There was a second place tie claimed by Wellstone Regional Hospital and Air Hydro Power with a time of 27.1 seconds.  Chegg claimed third place with a time of 27.5 seconds.

Teams pushed decorated beds on wheels around the “track,” competing for the fastest times and decoration and entertainment awards. Prizes went to the teams with the three fastest times, as well as for the "Best Decorated Bed,” “Most Entertaining,” “People’s Choice,” “Most Likely to Break Down” and “Cone Eater categories. The People’s Choice Award returned for the ninth year in a row, with attendees paying to cast their votes; Rubbies Southside Grille & Bar was the winner. A total of $734 was raised in voting, with half the money going to the Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation and half to Kosair Bravehearts.
