LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) - - Large crowds, bright lights and a big stage was set for 23-year-old Louisville native and Nashville recording artist Olivia Henken Friday night at the Kentucky Derby Festival’s Chow Wagon.

Henken had the opportunity to compete for Q103.1’s Q Factor, a battle of the bands, which took place at the Ice House in Louisville on April 19. The bands were performing for a shot to be the opening act for country legend and national recording artist Charlie Daniels.

A total of 16 bands in all competed and only one would prevail, The Olivia Henken Band. When asked what it was like to open for a band such as The Charlie Daniels Band, Henken said,  “He was SO awesome, he was very humbling and such a sweet man. It was a HECK of a show.”

Henken is no stranger to the spotlight, or large Kentucky events. She has appeared at the Churchill Downs HullabaLOU Music Festival performing on the same stage as country superstar’s Justin Moore, Dwight Yoakam and Kentucky native Loretta Lynn.

“It was such a great experience to perform on the same stage as Justin, Dwight and my fellow Kentucky native Loretta Lynn. It gave me butterflies” said Henken.

Performing since the age of four on many different plat forms the singer, songwriter is also the current Miss Fayette County Kentucky. In July she goes on to compete for Miss Kentucky 2012 on the Miss America system.

You can catch the Nashville recording artist on Itunes or get her latest album titled “The Ride” on her website Oliviacountry.com. Henken’s original “Good in Your Goodbye” will be heard on country radio in the near future. Click here to view her latest music video.
