(WHAS11) -- It’s been a changing and challenging forecast, but there’s a good chance for rain on Derby day this year. Stores are starting to sell out of rain gear.
“We've sold out of all the ponchos that we had,” Bethany Buck at Taste of Kentucky said.
The retailer joins others who have seen people buying rain coats and boots. Dee’s has also moved on to other ideas to protect derby hats.
“We've only been able to find one size of hat cover and we are out of those, but now we have just some large thin bags that people use. It's easy to pack in that small bag that you can take in,” Kathy Olliges, owner, said.
One woman at Dee’s said she has two different outfits and two different hats depending on the weather.
The last time significant rain moved in for Derby was in 2010.
