Kentucky Derby winner Orb retires

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Kentucky Derby winner, Orb has now retired from racing to begin his stud career.

Claiborne Farms in Paris, Kentucky made the announcement today.

Orb won this year's Kentucky Derby, but then came in fourth in the Preakness and third in the Belmont.

Orb was trained by Shug McGaughey and provided him with his first Derby win.

Orb was foaled and raised at Claiborne Farms.

He earned more than $2.6 million and retires with five wins and three placings in 12 starts.
