LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- The bugler that has been bringing in races at Keeneland Race Track for more than 50 years will be retiring this fall.

Lexington native, George “Bucky” Sallee, began taking trumpet lessons when he was seven years old and he will be honored during opening day ceremonies at Keeneland Race Track on October 4.

His replacement, Steve Buttleman, is a 20 year trumpeting veteran of Churchill Downs.

The public is invited to participate in honoring Sallee and he will be signing autographs throughout the day.
