(WHAS11) -- Churchill Downs reported a record attendance for Derby 138. Multiple reports state the crowds topped 165,000 for the Kentucky Derby.
A record amount of wagering for the Kentucky Oaks was also reported.
According to Churchill Downs wagering on the entire Oaks race day card totaled $35.9 million which is up 6.5 percent from 2011.
More than 112,000 people went to the downs for the Oaks which is 2,000 more than in 2011.
