Kentucky Derby winning trainer Rick Dutrow is slapped with a 30-day suspension for violating doping rules.

Dutrow trained 2008 Derby winner Big Brown.

The Kentucky horse racing commission suspended Dutrow Tuesday.

This comes more than a year after tests revealed that his horse, Salute the Count, had an excessive amount of a certain drug in his system that lets horses breathe easier while exercising.

A 15-day suspension was recommended but the panel opted for a stiffer penalty because they felt Dutrow was dragging out the process.

Dutrow's lawyer says he will probably appeal.
