LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Instead of a photo finish, two jockeys split the title of winningest rider during Churchill Downs' fall meet.
Calvin Borel, who also the Kentucky Derby and Oaks in the spring, had a four-win day on Saturday to tie Julien Leparoux with 27 victories in the meet that ended over the weekend. Leparoux skipped Friday and Saturday at Churchill to race in Japan.
It was the third title for Borel and sixth for Leparoux.
Trainer Steve Asmussen won his fourth fall Downs title and sixth overall. It's part of a season that has seen North America's largest stable collect 603 wins and $20.3 million in purse earnings heading into Saturday.
