Louisville junior wideout DeVante Parker, who will be eyeing some of the Cardinals’ biggest receiving records this fall, has been named to the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, annually presented to the nation’s top wide receiver by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.
Parker (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) is coming off the most productive season of his career. He was a 2012 first team All-BIG EAST selection after posting 40 catches for 744 yards (18.6 avg.) and a team-high 10 touchdowns, which was tied with Anthony Cummings (1990) and Arnold Jackson (1998)
The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder enters his junior year with 58 career receptions for 1,035 yards and 16 touchdowns. His 16 scores are already tied for seventh in school history.
Parker is the Cardinals’ big-play wide out, as 13 of his 40 receptions went for 20 or more yards and seven of his 10 scores were also in that category.
This year’s Biletnikoff Award winner will be announced on Dec. 12 during the live ESPN telecast of The Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
The 2013 season marks the Cardinals’ first as a member of the American Athletic Conference. Pitt will open the year with a highly anticipated opener against Ohio, which went 9-4 last season and were winners of the Independence Bowl. The ESPN national telecast will kick off at 3:30 p.m.
