LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- (NEWS RELEASE) Junior forward Charlyn Corral of the Louisville women’s soccer team was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday following her performance in the Cardinals’ win over Cincinnati last weekend.
Corral (Mexico City, Mexico/Tecnologico de Monterrey) factored into both scores in Louisville’s 2-1 double-overtime victory over the Bearcats on Oct. 19. Corral scored the game-tying goal in the 70th minute and assisted on the game-winner. The win clinched the No. 3 seed from the National Division in the BIG EAST Championship and a bye for the Cardinals. Corral has scored five goals in the last five games and has eight goals overall this season. She leads Louisville with seven assists.
With her first career weekly honor, Corral became the second Louisville player to be named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week this season joining Erin Yenney, who was chosen on Sept. 3.
Up next, Louisville (10-4-3, 5-3-3 BIG EAST) will open the 2012 BIG EAST Championship against USF (10-5-2, 6-2-2 BIG EAST) in a quarterfinal matchup on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m., ET at Corbett Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
