LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — One deflating loss has complicated some of the preseason goals coach Rich Brooks set for his Kentucky football team.
The Wildcats enter Saturday's game against in-state foe Eastern Kentucky needing a win, not necessarily to improve the bowl destination but just to get there.
Mississippi State's Anthony Dixon gashed the Kentucky defense for a school-record 252 yards in the Bulldogs' victory last week, making it impossible for Kentucky to finish any better than 4-4 in the Southeastern Conference.
Before the last three road wins, though, comes this date with the Colonels. Kentucky will try to keep alive a team-record 17-game non-conference winning streak.
