Forward Stephan Van Treese has been provided his release from the University of Louisville men’s basketball team.

“Although Stephan’s playing time has been limited with injuries, he’s a terrific young man who needs to step on the court and play 30-plus minutes a game, gain his confidence and have some success,” said UofL Men’s Basketball Coach Rick Pitino.  “We wish him the best and will always be behind him.”

A 6-8 junior from Indianapolis, Ind., Van Treese played in just three games early during the 2011-12 season due to an injured left knee.  He averaged 2.9 points and 3.5 rebounds as a sophomore in 2010-11 while playing in 33 games, starting 12.  He produced his finest career game at USF with 12 points and 14 rebounds on Jan. 9, 2011.  Van Treese averaged 2.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 52 career games.
