LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The rivalry game between the Manual Rams and the Male Bulldogs is getting a lot of attention. However it isn't Male's win that has people talking, the team’s mascots began fighting Friday night.
The halftime show seemed to begin with a harmless back and forth between the mascots. However after a few seconds, on-lookers realized they were watching an all out brawl. Dozens of Male students left the bleachers and joined the mêlée.
The schools have a storied rivalry, but some Male students told us tensions were running high all game as the school chants shifted away from sports and became personal attacks.
Video of the halftime fight, captured and edited by students, is outrageous, however students tell us it was nothing compared to the brawl that followed in the parking lot. Students say bottles and fists flew in fights that involved dozens of students, boys and girls.
JCPS says both high schools are investigating. So far some Manual students have been disciplined.
