LEXINGTON, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The reigning national championship basketball team is asking their fans to shell out more money for tickets.
The University of Kentucky board of trustees approved a ticket price hike Monday.
Here is the ticket plan from UK PR:
-Ticket prices for season:
Lower Level: WAS $40 per game; WILL BE $45 per game
Upper Level: WAS $35 per game; WILL BE $40 per game
-Ticket prices for single games:
Lower Level: WAS $40 per game; WILL BE $50 per game
Upper Level: WAS $35 per game; WILL BE $42 per game
-K-fund seats: these are certain seats in the arena that require donation to the K-fund yearly. It varies by seat, but also increasing these prices.
-Overall impact:
K-Fund seats increase: $1.25 million
Ticket increase: $2.25 million
Overall: Adding $3.5 million in revenue for next fiscal year
They stress that UK Athletics is self-supporting. The University gives back to academic side by increasing their academic scholarships this year. Last year there was $1.7 million in athletic scholarship this year there will $3 million.
