Celebration set for Cats return to Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WHAS11)—The University of Kentucky has announced plans to celebrate the Wildcat’s run to the title game.

Officials announced the plans for Tuesday’s celebration when the team arrives back into Lexington.

Tickets are free and will be distributed starting at 8 a.m. at the Rupp Arena ticket office. They said fans can start lining up after the end of the championship game Monday and security will be present.

There is a limit of four tickets per person and you have to be at least 14 to get tickets. All tickets are assigned seating, not general admission. Children under 2 do not need a ticket if they sit on the lap of their parent.

Students wishing to get tickets can show a valid student ID and receive one ticket into the student section.

Parking will be available around the arena for the normal rate of $15 per vehicle.

Door open at 1:30 p.m. and the team is set to touchdown at the Bluegrass Airport at 2 p.m. The team will then be bused from the airport to Rupp Arena, with the celebration starting when they arrive inside Rupp.

For those fans wanting to cheer the team on during the trip from the airport to the arena, here is the route the bus will be taking:

•    Man-o-War to Versailles Road
•    Right on Red Mile Road/Virginia Ave
•    Left on South Limestone
•    Left on West Main
•    West Main to Rupp Arena
