(Press release) -- On March 2 an EF4 tornado destroyed the homes of many in the community of Henryville, Ind. During this time of crisis, one extraordinary mother went to special lengths to protect her family.
As the massive tornado hit, she laid over top of her two children as their house fell on top of her and the kids. While both children were able to walk away without a scratch, she lost both of her legs.
Stephanie Decker has overcome many obstacles since that fateful day and she still has a long road ahead. She will undergo what will hopefully be her last surgery at University Hospital in Louisville and plans to be walking with the aid of prosthesis within the next month.
A diehard Cardinals fan, Decker, along with her husband, Joe, and two children, Reese and Dominic, threw out the first pitch at Tuesday's UofL, UK baseball game.
The Louisville Baseball team said they, and all Cardinals fans, thank the Decker Family and look forward to spending many future days with them at the ballpark.
