LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- (NEWS RELEASE)  The University of Louisville’s Alyssa Voelmle was named BIG EAST Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 22. Junior Erin Schneidtmiller was selected to the weekly honor roll.
 
The sophomore from Hershey, Pa., helped lead Louisville defense that allowed just four shots and only one penalty corner in a 3-1 win over Villanova. The midfielder also scored a goal in the league victory for the Cardinals.
 
Schneidtmiller (Louisville, Ky.) helped the Cardinals to a crucial victory over BIG EAST Opponent Villanova. The forward put the Louisville on the scoreboard and assisted on the insurance goal in the 3-1 win. She now has five goals and three assists on the season.
 
U of L (10-7, 2-3 BIG EAST) will play its regular season home finale against No. 21 Ohio State on Monday at 4 p.m at Trager Stadium. Fans are encouraged to wear black and sunglasses will be given out to the first 200 fans. Admission is free.
