(WHAS11) -- Forward Stephan Van Treese will remain on the University of Louisville men’s basketball team after he had been provided his release earlier this month.
“As far as I’m concerned, Stephan should have never thought of going any place other than Bellarmine or Louisville,” said UofL Men’s Basketball Coach Rick Pitino. “He’s committed to helping us have another great season.”
Van Treese played in just three games early during the 2011-12 season due to an injured left knee. He averaged 2.9 points and 3.5 rebounds as a sophomore in 2010-11 while playing in 33 games, starting 12. He produced his finest career game at USF with 12 points and 14 rebounds on Jan. 9, 2011. He has averaged 2.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 52 career games.
