(WHAS11) - The Big East Champion Louisville Cardinals will open up NCAA tournament play against the Big 10 Champion Indiana Hoosiers.
The Cards watched the NCAA selection show Monday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium. They'll host the regionals Friday at 7 p.m. when they take on the Hoosiers.
Also in the bracket, Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee. This is the third straight year the Cards have made the tournament and the last time they hosted a NCAA tournament game was in 2007. They hosted the super regionals and made it all the way to College World Series in Omaha.
"This year I enjoy the feeling, knowing that we're in. And especially knowing that we're hosting. What an accomplishment for our kids and our administration. I'm so excited for the fans and the city. I told them before the show I think this place is going to explode this weekend and especially when you add Indiana, Vanderbilt, and MTSU. Their fans are going to be able to come so I think this will be the greatest atmosphere ever seen here in Louisville," Cards Coach Dan McDonnell told WHAS11 News.
