LEXINGTON, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Freshman UK basketball player Trey Lyles will be sitting out for a while after a medical procedure.
UK isn't saying what the procedure was, only that it was to his left leg and he's recovering.
The McDonald's All-American will not play when Kentucky goes to the Bahamas in August, but he is expected to be ready for the start of practice in October.
John Calipari said both Lyles and Willie Cauley-Stein, who's recovering from ankle surgery, could probably play if it was needed, but it's not.
Coach Cal said he wants them at 100 percent for the start of the season and them sitting out will give other guys the chance to get more minutes in the exhibition games.
