(WHAS11) -- USA Today is reporting that the seven non-football schools of the Big East conference have chosen to leave.

The group which is comprised of Depaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John's and Villanova met Sunday with league commissioner Mike Aresco expressing concern over the new teams added, the smaller television deal and the teams that have already left.

The official announcement has not been made, because there are two ways for them to leave. The first involves them withdrawing from the conference as a group, then they cannot take the "Big East" name. The second, the schools could vote to dissolve the league. In both cases, Louisville still must pay an exit fee.

It also raises the point could Louisville head to the ACC sooner than 2014.
