UNCASVILLE, Conn. (WHAS11) – Three University of Louisville Women’s Basketball players who made it to the Elite Eight during the NCAA Tournament have been selected in the WNBA Draft.
Senior Shoni Schimmel was picked in the first round of the draft and heads to the Atlanta Dream with former Cardinals and current Dream star Angel McCoughtry.
Schimmel is the Cardinals second all-time leading scorer and the only other player to score 2,000 career points – both accomplishments are behind McCoughtry.
Two other Lady Cards were drafted including former Christian Academy star Antonita Slaughter, who was taken by the L.A. Sparks as the 35th pick. Asia Taylor went to the Minnesota Lynx at 36.
Louisville was the only school to have three players drafted.
