(WHAS11) -- Louisville's own Muhammad Ali gets another honor.
"The greatest" was awarded the liberty medal last night in Philadelphia. Ali's daughter, Laila, placed the medal around his neck and gave him a kiss and hug.
Ali was recognized for his longtime role outside the ring as a fighter for humanitarian causes, civil right and religous freedom.
Hundreds of people gathered to watch Ali receive the honor, which his wife Loni called 'overwhelming.'
As he admired the medal the crowd chanted his name.
He also received a $100,000 cash prize.
