LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Mike Balado, the new assistant coach for the University of Louisville men’s basketball team, was formally introduced during a news conference Monday.
Head coach Rick Pitino said he was looking for an assistant he didn't have to break in, and Balado fit right in since he had worked for Pitino's son, Richard, at FIU. In fact, Richard vouched for Balado.
Balado replaces Kareem Richardson. Richardson left the staff after the team’s NCAA championship win to become the head coach at University of Missouri - Kansas City.
